Stroke Services
When someone is having a stroke, every minute counts.
Holzer Health System is part of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Telestroke Network. Physicians at Holzer work together with Ohio State’s stroke specialists when a patient presents with stroke-like symptoms. Coordinating with the specialists to determine the next best step for the patient’s treatment ensures you receive the best care possible.
Acute stroke therapies try to stop a stroke while it is happening by quickly dissolving the blood clot or by stopping the bleeding. Patient outcomes improve with early action in treatment and restoring blood flow. We are committed to acting quickly with the vast resources we have available to give you the fast treatment you need.
If an advanced level of care is required, a transfer to Ohio State’s Stroke Comprehensive Center is arranged where endovascular neurosurgeons can remove clots with a stent retriever in a procedure called a thrombectomy that leads to better patient outcomes.
