HAL-J Offers Much Needed Service for Area

“I am just ecstatic that Holzer Assisted Living – Jackson offers Day Break services,” stated Shelly Argabright. “It’s literally an answer to prayer.”

Shelly has been bringing her father, William “Bill” Downey, to Holzer Assisted Living – Jackson three days a week for the past five months. “It offers a safe place for him to be while I am at work, meals, socialization, it’s close to home, and very cost-effective,” Shelly commented.  “Dad has been able to see so many former co-workers and child hood friends while he’s here, and I have the peace of mind knowing that there are multiple medical professionals close by if there is ever a need.”

Mr. Downey is a retired teacher, millwright carpenter and local real estate broker. In addition, he served in the United States Navy. He commented, “The food is good and I have many friends here. I like the activities and the medical staff being available.” Mr. Downey is a resident of Jackson and was married to Kathleen, who passed in 2012. They had five sons: Jared, Barry, Gary, Dale Terry (deceased) and one daughter, Shelly. Bill also has 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

“Holzer Assisted Living has a homey atmosphere, is always clean and decorated for the various seasons. This winter, the snow removal has been very prompt; allowing us easy access to bring Dad here, never a worry getting in and out of the facility drive. This is a professional and friendly place. We are blessed with it in the Jackson community,” added Shelly.

“We are proud to offer this service to our community,” stated Jeri Long, Director, Holzer Assisted Living - Jackson. “This is a great opportunity to bring a loved one here for a few hours in order to run errands, attend appointments, or for work hours. Day Break participants are cared for and treated as one of the family.”

Day Break participants receive care during their stay including activities and socialization, nursing services, medication assistance if needed, meals and snacks, and assistance with activities of daily living.
