Holzer Health System joins St. Mary’s Medical Center to Provide Mason County Elementary Students with GoNoodle Plus
Using GoNoodle’s movement videos and games, over 2,500 elementary students
in Mason County schools are becoming active in classrooms throughout the
school day. With funding from Holzer Health System and St. Mary’s Medical Center, elementary classrooms across the county have access to GoNoodle PLUS at no cost. This premium version brings movement, mindfulness and core-subjects together to develop fluency in grade-specific math and ELA topics.
Already this school year, Mason County elementary students have logged thousands of minutes of in-classroom physical activity as they run, jump, dance, stretch and participate in calming activities next to their desks. Representatives from St. Mary’s Medical Center and Holzer Health System recently visited Ashton Elementary School, one of the highest achieving schools in the area where students from Mrs. Buckle’s grade class demonstrated their favorite GoNoodle activities. The visit included a guest appearance of Flappy, one of the GoNoodle characters.
School staff expressed how pleased they were with the program and often use the GoNoodle activities daily to provide a mental break and refocus students.
GoNoodle is a website-based program that provides hundreds of dance alongs, yoga videos, mindfulness activities and other ways to get kids moving. These activities help engage children’s minds, bodies, and perform their best. The benefits of GoNoodle include improved behavior and attention span, increased academic performance, and strengthened classroom cohesion.
