Holzer Center for Cancer Care recently received a generous donation from Allivia Runyon, local River Valley High School senior. Runyon’s donation, over $500, will be applied to the Holzer Center for Cancer Care Patient Fund, which provides gas cards and other assistance to patients while receiving treatments.

Runyon coordinated a fundraiser, Cartwheels for Cancer, as a community service project in 2018. She is hosting a second Cartwheel for Cancer event on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 10am to 12noon at Southern Ohio Gymnastics Academy in Gallipolis, Ohio. At this event, participants are asked to find sponsors for the cartwheel challenge. Each participant are asked to cartwheel for 60 consecutive seconds. Individuals can participate at any time during the event. Monetary donations are also welcomed. All proceeds will go to Holzer Center for Cancer Care Patient Fund.

“This is something that I wanted to do,” remarked Runyon. “I wanted to be able to give back to the community and help people who are struggling with a cancer diagnosis.”

“We are so appreciative of Allivia and her family for this wonderful donation and event coordination,” shared Sarah Harrigan, MSN, MA, RN, OCN, Oncology Service Line Director, Holzer Center for Cancer Care. “Our staff and patients thank her for her thoughtfulness. This donation will make a difference for many in our communities.”
