Holzer Center for Cancer Care Receives Donation

Community involvement can begin at any age and Kelsey Price is just the young lady to show it. Price recently saw a problem and took it upon herself to do something about it.

Price, who will be a senior for the 21-22 school year at River Valley High School, launched the Covers for Cancer project to address a need for blankets for individuals diagnosed with cancer who often feel cold due to their treatments, even in a normal temperature environment.

As a candidate for the Gallia County Junior Fair Queen, Price wanted to make a difference in her hometown. With the assistance of the RVHS Beta Club Advisor, Amy Stanley, she set a goal of obtaining 100 new blankets donated to her cause by May 31. She not only reached her goal, but exceeded it, and local cancer patients are the beneficiaries of these gracious gifts. The donated blankets were presented to the Holzer Center for Cancer Care (HCCC) for distribution to patients. Holzer appreciates Price’s efforts and is proud to be the beneficiary of her Covers for Cancer project. HCCC patients are grateful for her charitable act of kindness. Holzer is able to receive donations through the Holzer Heritage Foundation, which can allocate funding and items to our various locations throughout the system.
