Holzer Health System is pleased to announce its partnership with The DAISY Award recognition program. The DAISY Award is an international recognition program started in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Barnes’ family experienced first-hand the difference nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and outstanding compassionate care.
DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem. Following Patrick’s death, his family created The DAISY Award to express gratitude to nurses and to enable other patients, families, and staff to thank and honor their special nurses.
Nominations for the DAISY award can be submitted by patients, patients’ family members, peers, and providers. The award honors LPNs and RNs across every division of care in the Holzer system, including: acute/hospital, post-acute/long-term care, and ambulatory/outpatient.
“It is an honor to partner with The DAISY Award program,” shared Lisa Stepp, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC
Quality Patient Safety Manager, Holzer Health System. “Many choose nursing as a career and this award provides an avenue for those to be recognized for the amazing care they provide. This recognition will allow Holzer DAISY winners to become part of an international group of exceptional nurses.”
Nomination forms can be found throughout all Holzer facilities and online at www.holzer.org/DAISY-award. The nominations are verified before being shared with the Holzer DAISY committee to evaluate and score the applicants each month. In nominating an individual, a specific example or scenario of the nurse going above and beyond for a patient is required on the nomination form.
“The DAISY Award program shines a light on all the right,” shared Susan Rowe, RN, MSN, CENP, C-EFM, CLS, Vice President, Nursing Services, Holzer Health System. “Through this program, we are able to meaningfully recognize the extraordinary contributions of nurses, and their efforts to create and sustain healthy work environments.”
DAISY awardees will be recognized each month with a celebration occurring within the department the individual resides. Winners receive a certificate, a DAISY award pin, a unique, hand-carved serpentine stone sculpture entitled "A Healer's Touch, and a spotlight page on the DAISY award website.
