Ohio Board of Nursing Appointment
Shawn Livingston, LPN, Clinical Manager, Holzer Health System
Shawn Livingston, LPN, Clinical Manager, Holzer Health System, has recently been appointed by Governor DeWine to the Ohio Board of Nursing.
The Ohio Board of Nursing consists of thirteen members with the top priority to efficiently license the nursing workforce and protect Ohio patients.
Shawn joined Holzer in 2012, where he has held positions such as LPN, LPN Team Lead, and his current title of Clinical Manager of Orthopedics, Podiatry, pain Management, Chiropractic and Sports Medicine. He received his nursing degree from Buckeye Hills School of Practical Nursing. He and his wife, Paula, reside in Gallipolis with their sons Austin and Bryce. His hobbies include fishing, cycling, playing guitar and soccer.
The Governor, with the advice and consent of the State Senate, appoints the members to the Board. The statute requires that members be citizens of the United States and residents of Ohio. The Board consists of eight registered nurses, four licensed practical nurses, and one consumer member. Nurse members must be a graduate of an approved nursing education program, hold a current, active Ohio license as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse, and have engaged in the practice of nursing for the five years immediately preceding the member’s initial appointment to the Board.
The Board meets in Columbus seven times a year to discuss legislative and regulatory issues impacting licensure, practice and nursing education and disciplinary deliberations. The Board regulates over 300,000 licenses and certificates. The Board licenses and regulates registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Dialysis Technicians (DTs), Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Medication Aides.
Join us in congratulating Shawn on this well-deserved accomplishment!
