Holzer Nurses Receive Scholarship Funds
Brianna Hindy, CMA, and Laura Jividen, LPN, recently received funds from the Mary Scully Thomas, RN, and Homer B. Thomas, MD, Memorial Nursing Scholarship. These funds are designated to assist them in advancing their nursing education.
Hindy works full-time in the pediatric department as a Certified Medical Assistant and joined Holzer in 2019. Hindy is part of the LPN Program at Buckeye Hills Career Center. Overall, she plans to continue her education, with the goal of bridging to the RN program and earning her BSN.
Jividen joined Holzer 12 years ago and is a full-time LPN at our Meigs Clinic. Currently, Jividen is part of the LPN to RN Hybrid Program at the University of Rio Grande. After graduation, Jividen plans to use her knowledge to help better serve her patients.
The Thomas Scholarship was established in 1974 in memory of Mary Scully Thomas, RN, by her husband, Homer B. Thomas, MD. At the time of his death in 1988, Dr. Thomas’ name was added. Their sons, Dr. James Thomas and Dr. John Thomas, continue to support this important scholarship fund.
Scholarships can be set up by an individual, family, or civic group. For more information, call Holzer Foundation at (740) 446-5878.
