Audrey Burris Named Healthcare Worker of the Year Nominee for Holzer Health System

Audrey Burris, BSN, RN CPHQ, Manager Regulatory Accreditation, was named the 2024 Ohio Hospital Association Albert E. Dyckes Healthcare Worker of the Year Nominee for Holzer Health System.

Audrey completed her Bachelor of Science of Nursing at Ohio University, Athens, Ohio and her Associate degree in nursing at the University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande, Ohio. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, has her Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and is a Team STEPPS Master Trainer. Audrey Burris

Audrey joined Holzer in May of 2000, where she began her Holzer career as a Critical Care Staff Nurse. Over the years, she has worked in the inpatient setting, as well as Information Technology as a Clinical Analyst Team Lead, and her current department of Accreditation. Throughout her Holzer career, she was provided the opportunity to pilot multiple successful programs for Holzer including implementation of Clinical Coordinator Position, Cardiac Open-Heart Liaison, Case Management, and served as the interim Director of Utilization Management.

She has served on a variety of Holzer and community event committees such as the Holzer Ambassador Program, Holzer Employee Activity Team, Holzer in Lights, Team Resilience Advisory Committee, Holzer Foundation Celebrity Dinner, Gallipolis in Lights (GIL) including the GIL 5K planning committee and GIL Gala.

When asked about working at Holzer, Audrey shared, “Holzer is ingrained in both my personal and professional life. I have the opportunity to work and collaborate with exceptional individuals to deliver essential healthcare services locally and I’m actively encouraged to engage in community outreach. Contributing to this organization fills me with a sense of pride.”

In Audrey’s nomination, her enthusiasm and energy for her position as well as her community was praised. “She pulls staff in, gets them to believe and understand the necessity for improvements, leading to constant success in areas such as accreditation and regulatory compliance.  She leads our Joint Commission preparedness and manages process review and corrective actions. Beyond the workday, Audrey participates civically in many volunteer roles for both the Health System and our community. She serves as a leader on aiding with burnout, fundraisers, and employee events, to name only a few.”

In her spare time, Audrey enjoys reading, kayaking, and completing home improvement projects. She resides in Gallia County and has one son, Trey Farley.

“I am humbled to receive this nomination,” shared Audrey. “I do what I do because I love it. And I love being a part of Holzer and our communities.”

The Ohio Hospital Association will recognize Audrey and other candidates from hospitals throughout the state at their annual meeting in June.  OHA asked that nominee criteria include great leader qualities, goes beyond the call of duty, reflects the mission and values of the organization, and gives back to the community.
