Holzer Making Strides Celebrates Kickoff to Summer
Holzer recently had its third “Making Strides” event of 2024 at Lake Alma State Park in Wellston, Ohio. To celebrate the upcoming summer season, May’s event was headlined by Christy Massie, APRN, DNP, Holzer Jenkins Memorial Health Clinic.
Massie provided health tips for the summer, saying, “During the summer season, many people wonder which type of sunscreen they should use. SPF50 is the best sunscreen to use, but using SPF15 is better than not having any on. It’s also important to remember that babies under 6 months should not wear sunscreen.”
Massie went on to talk about other summer tips, stating, “For the general population, I also recommend wearing a hat and staying out of the sun as much as possible from 10am to 2pm. Men should drink at least 125 ounces of water per day; Women should drink at least 91 ounces of water per day. Staying hydrated is always important, especially during the hot summer season. Also, use the nice weather to your advantage. Try to engage in 30 minutes of exercise 5 times per week. This is very beneficial for your overall health.”
To end the event, participants walked a mile lap by Lake Alma and enjoyed the sights of nature.
Making Strides with Holzer is a health initiative designed to guide overall wellness for individuals in our communities.
