da Vinci® Surgery
A hernia occurs when tissue pushes through an opening in your abdomen (ventral hernia) or groin area (inguinal hernia).
A hernia can only be repaired with surgery. If you and your doctor decide that a surgical repair is right for you, talk to your doctor about all of your options, including minimally invasive surgery. One option your surgeon may present is robotic-assisted surgery.
What will your surgeon do?
If you and your surgeon decide that robotic-assisted surgery is right for you, your surgeon will use a 3D high-definition camera for a crystal-clear and magnified view of your hernia.
Your surgeon will sit at a console next to you and operate through a few small incisions using tiny instruments, including a camera. Your surgeon fully controls all instruments. Every hand movement is translated by the da Vinci® System in real-time to bend and rotate the instruments for a precise repair of your hernia.

A hysterectomy is a procedure where your uterus is surgically removed with the goal of eliminating or reducing symptoms. A benign hysterectomy is the removal of a uterus for noncancerous conditions, including:
- Endometriosis
- Fibroids
- Abnormal bleeding
- Chronic pelvic pain
- Pelvic prolapse
What will your surgeon do?
If you and your doctor decide that robotic-assisted surgery is right for you, here is what may happen:
- During robotic-assisted surgery, your surgeon makes several small incisions, then uses a 3DHD camera for a crystal-clear, magnified view of your uterus.
- He or she sits at a console next to you and operates through the incisions using tiny instruments and the camera.
- Every hand movement your surgeon makes is translated by the da Vinci® system in real-time, bending and rotating the instruments so he or she can remove your uterus.

Colorectal surgery is surgery to remove a portion of your colon and/or rectum. The main types of colorectal surgery include:
- Colectomy: A procedure to remove the diseased portion of the colon
- Low anterior resection: a procedure to remove the diseased portion of the rectum
These procedures can be recommended for cancerous and noncancerous (benign) conditions. If you have been diagnosed with colon or rectal cancer, you should discuss all options with your doctor, including surgery.
