Holzer Hospice Offers Grief, Bereavement Support Group
It’s difficult learning how to function after the death of a loved one. But you don’t have to do it alone. Holzer Hospice offers community grief/bereavement support group meetings to help individuals recover.
The group meets monthly on the first Tuesday at the Holzer Gallipolis campus in Conference Room C from 11 a.m. to Noon.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, individuals are dealing with grief along with handling restrictions and guidelines. Adults and children are experiencing many emotions that are difficult to manage. It’s important to learn and maintain healthy coping options while dealing with a loss.
The community support group is a service that is offered to anyone that has experienced a loss, whether it be recent or not. The loss can be a loss of a loved one, pet, job, relocation of a friend, miscarriages, or caring for Alzheimer/dementia or ailing parents/loved ones. These are only a few examples of situations discussed. Any loss or life-changing event can be discussed or presented to the group.
"Anyone is eligible to attend our sessions," stated Shelly Ranegar, LSW, Bereavement Coordinator, Holzer Hospice. "We want to be a resource for the community, regardless of whether an individual received Hospice services from Holzer. Our group provides an open forum where confidentiality is stressed, and individuals can relate to others about the experiences they are going through with the assistance of a social worker and other resources."
