Sharing Your Stories: Patient Stays Close to Home for Knee Surgery

After owning land in the southeast Ohio region for over sixteen years, Terri Oldfield and her husband, Dan, decided once they retired to relocate to the area. Oldfield worked for years as a cook, which caused bone-on-bone pain in her knee. A chiropractic appointment with Holzer’s Dr. Stephen "Craig" Kincaid, DC, led her to Jason Cox, DO, for a total knee replacement.

"I had an appointment with Dr. Kincaid, and he recommended Dr. Cox. Both are wonderful at what they do," said Oldfield. "I had a lot of pain in my knee and now I don’t, which is just great."

Oldfield had her right knee operated on in February 2021. She went through six weeks of therapy at Holzer Medical Center – Jackson and has made a quick recovery. Oldfield shared that the road to recovery was tough, but it was worth it. She shared that all-around excellent care was provided.

"One day, I walked out of therapy, and I couldn’t do much for the next two days. They had pushed me so hard but did it so I would get to where I am now," shared Oldfield. "But they knew what they were doing and do a great job."

For anyone who may be needing a total knee replacement, Oldfield highly recommends Dr. Cox and Holzer Health System. She shared that he and the rest of the staff kept her and her family well informed during the procedure and in follow up visits.

"Everything was great," said Oldfield. "The best part about having the surgery done with Dr. Cox is that it was close to home. I had an appointment scheduled in Columbus but decided to stay close to home, and I’m so glad I did. I would give Dr. Cox and the entire care team 10 out of 10."

Oldfield resides in McArthur, Ohio with her husband, Dan. Together, they enjoy gardening, fishing, deer hunting and going to flea markets. Oldfield also enjoys cooking and canning. They have one son and one granddaughter.
